Garbage?

Is it allowed to call some of the mail-art one gets in Garbage? A theme that came up in one discussion I recently had with PLG in Germany. He rememered me that I once mentioned the word in an interview that is done years ago. I used the word in the question: "Do you keep all the mail you get?"......

Getting fingernail clippings in a piece of mail-art may sound funny. But should I keep that in my archive. I didn't. Also, when I receive a tin can with soup, do I archive it? I didn't. I just opened it, ate the soup, documented the process and placed that online (see: http://www.iuoma.org/qpidoremix.html ). Then I threw away the tin can.

What do the readers do with all the mail-art they get? Save all? Add on it and pass it on? Or also make a choice what is saved and what is recycled (one way or the other).

I am currious to the reactions....

Hi Ruud,
please visit my new blog
http://macoal.splinder.com.
I often reuse the works that I receive.
Why don't you answer to my mailing?

Hi Ruud,
You re so right, some of it is such garbage, but then who am I to judge, maybe some find my work garbage too.

I keep the pieces I like very much and the rest is either re-used or on hold to be re-used, at least if I see a way of using it. If not I have a large grey archive that is soooooooo patient and hungry.

Hi Ruud, some of the stuff i get is just garbage. and i throw it away. I see no need for me to pay postage to spread stuff i don't like around. If someone thinks my work sucks, cool-cool, that's fine. It doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm tired of envelopes filled with advertisements, no personal notes, glitter-I hate glitter-stuff that i DO like i always re-send. I hope you're well. Jim
