Mail-Art postcard from Dede van der Roove (Poland). The artist use the icon of the IUOMA Café (see: http://iuoma-network.ning.com/group/cafe ) as an attachment to the card. For more work, see: www.dedevanderroove.com . Love the photo and the shadow....
The International Union of Mail-Artists is where the IUOMA stands for, but actually it is one of the aspects of the Mail-Art that Ruud Janssen has produced in the last 38 years. A lot has been written by him in this period and in his BLOG he writes about the most recent views and thoughts. For Snail-Mail write to: iuoma@outlook.com

Video for Nico van Hoorn - Netherlands
The card that Nico van Hoorn (Netherlands) sent to me has inspired me to send him the results of a Digital Fluxus performance that I did for him. The digital recording is published before the mail actually is sent.
In 1000 Years - Project
On www.in1000years.com they are documenting a mail-art project for which they have sent out these cards to work on and to return. I received the card from an unknown person in the UK (he/she didn't mention name in the envelope). But I added to the other side and returned the card today.
Mail to Nico van Hoorn : Untitled - 2
Nico van Hoorn sent out a series of "Untitled" cards. He has been getting some of them back in an altered way. Here is my alteration as I have returned it to him. See more details on his blog at: http://nicovanhoorn-mail-art.blogspot.com/

5 years of Blogging
Yes, I have been blogging quite some time now. This blog started in June 2004. I have even been published on wikipedia as a Dutch Blogger both on the English and Dutch versions (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Dutch_bloggers and http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categorie:Nederlands_blogger ). I have been working with computers for a long time (since I was 15 years old) and have witnessed a lot of changes in the field. For me the creative use of the computer technique was always a challenge. Also these days I am learning new ways to use the computer and see upcoming changes. The Mail-Art network is now quite alive on the Internet. But what counts is still the pieces of mail-art that we sent through the postal system. The Internet just makes the time-factor interesting. We can discuss and see what the other mail-artist is getting and sending. Also the basis of this blog. You can witness the last 5 years of my mail-art activities.....
Why Photo's and no Scans?
Bruno Capatti (Italy) wondered why I am now taking photo's instead of Scan's of the mail-art I receive. Well, there are 2 reasons. The first one is a time-problem. There was a pile of unpublished mail-art that still had to be digitized, and the photocamera is the fastest way to do that. The second reason is that the concept of mail-art can best be seen of a photo. One gets the idea of the piece being mailed and also can discover the content when that is placed on the photo. Just let me know what you think of this.
