This is the first DVD I burnbed with the new gadget I bought. Notice tghe extreme capacity of 7,96 Mbyte on one DVD-2L. Enough space for the thousands of scans I already have on my harddisk. Also enough space for the digital scans of envelopes mail-artistrs send me.

A bit small to see the writing but get the idea. So how many images will one disc hold, say the normal size you would do for a blog?
Hi Michael, When you click on the image it enlarges, and you could read the texts withour problems. The resolution of the image is 640x437. I guess about 20,000 images would go on a 2 layer DVD. Quite a lot isn't it. Normally I scan images with the high resolution scanner and they are 1 to 2 Mbyte. So 1 Gbyte would at least be 500 to 1000 images. An easy calculation brings that to 3500 to 7000 high resolution scans on a single DVD-2L. That is archiving. A higg resolution has photoquality. At the college where I am staffmember we also have a multimedia department. They use the newest digital cameras which even bring more possibilies. Soon we will archive all our activities in video. Where does it all lead to?
